About the Nicobar Pigeon:
As the name suggests, this large pigeon is found on the Nicobar Islands, as well as Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, and Indonesia.
Flocks of Nicobar Pigeons forage along the ground in search of fruits, seeds, and plant buds.
Sadly, the Nicobar Pigeon population is in steady decline. This beautiful pigeon is hunted for meat, and oddly, their gizzard stones. These stones are then used for jewelry.
