About the Pyrrhuloxia:
- Closely related to the Northern Cardinal, these vocal songbirds live in the desert southwest of the United States, Baja Mexico, and the northern half of Mexico.
- Strong defenders of their territories during breeding season, but outside of the breeding season they can be found in large flocks of up to 1,000 individuals.
- Pyrrhuloxias are tough, able to survive in extreme desert conditions, getting much of their water from the insects that they eat.
