About the Pyrrhuloxia:
Closely related to the Northern Cardinal, these vocal songbirds live in the desert southwest of the United States, Baja Mexico, and the northern half of Mexico. 
Strong defenders of their territories during breeding season, but outside of the breeding season they can be found in large flocks of up to 1,000 individuals. 
Pyrrhuloxias are tough, able to survive in extreme desert conditions, getting much of their water from the insects that they eat.
