About the Wood Duck:
- Arguably one of the most beautiful birds in North America, the Wood Duck has only one close relative: The Mandarin Duck of eastern Asia.
- Nests in tree cavities high off the ground, up to 65 feet off the ground, and near water. They will occasionally nest in lower cavities, such as stumps, fallen logs, and artificial nest boxes.
- Eats seeds, aquatic plants, invertebrates, and acorns.
